Death toll in Peru is now 75. 99,475 Peruvians have lost there homes while 626,928 have suffered some sort of lesser home damage from the onslaught of relentless rain. On Saturday the center of Trujillo was overcome by a torrent of water. Lima is having issues with clean water and was mostly inundated, as was Huarmey. Transportation has been severally disrupted as bridges have washed out. Weeks more of flooding is expected.
Peru has been hit again by heavy rains as Region 1, 2 of the East Pacific Ocean has warmed considerably with a possible coming El Nino later this year. Since January 1st, 62 people have died and 12,000 homes have been destroyed. Many have had miraculous escapes from floods and landslides. The warm pool of water and excessive rain is expected to continue for at least the next 2 weeks. School is closed nationwide. President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said authorities were prepared to shelter those made homeless by this event.
