The Thomas fire which has ravaged Ventura County and severely threatened Santa Barbra has been held in it's lines today, with no new land consumed. Fire lines have been constructed 60% around the fire. These lines will be put to the test on Thursday when 50mph winds are expected to return. The current burn area from this fire is 272,000. Not far from beating out the all time largest California wildfire Cedar Creek in 2003.
A ferry carrying 251 passengers floundered and fell to the sea in the Philippines. The weather conditions are stormy and the waves high with Tembin south of the area. First reports are than most have been rescued, the rescue efforts are getting into their critical hours.
